What is Street View?
Basically cars have been driving all over the UK with a pole on top and cameras pointing in all directions. As the vehicle drives down the road it is taking images of Buildings, Homes and Properties. Some really clever people stitch these images together to give a 3D representation of the surrounding area.
Google has launched Street View in the UK and as far as we can tell there is full coverage So you can probably view your house, business premises, local pub etc. on this website. Why not give it a try now by entering your town or postcode above.
What use is it?
Well one use may be in the estate agency sector or (Real Estate as they say in America) using this tool you can navigate the surrounding area to get a general feeling for the place. I don't know about you but if I was thinking of moving house to a new place I'd probably go have a drive around to see what the neighbourhood is like, Well now you can do it online saving money and the environment !
Using Street View to Navigate
Left click and drag with your mouse to rotate the camera
When you see the square double click to zoom in
When you see the oval shape in the distance double click to move in that direction
There is a line down the road with direction arrows on it Single Click the direction arrows to move down the road.
When you see a rectangle with a like plus sign in the top right corner you can double click to zoon in.
